Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When Stakes Are High by Kerry Patterson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I’m adding this to my tiny shelf of “required reading and re-reading.” 10 years ago, I’d have called this book “valuable.” 5 years ago it would have been “important.” Today, when nearly everything is entangled with identity and politicized, it’s been upgraded to “necessary.”
I found it best to read the book in small chunks; it’s not that the prose is particularly dense, but the concepts are of the “too obvious, so there’s something more going on that I need to process” variety. Even before finishing, I’d already gifted the book to two separate people.
Highest marks.
